As if Terrorizer helping us out wasn't enough, we have been inundated with other online zine's wishing to help promote the free download of our new EP 'Build My Gallows High', so you can now download it from Thrash Hits here: http://www.facebook.com/l.php?u=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.thrashhits.com%2F2010%2F06%2Ffree-stuff-download-the-build-my-gallows-high-ep-from-jairus%2F&h=53017cW8SVNOeYOerR02oteusxw as well as the original Terrorizer link (see post below).
I am really grateful for all of the support we've been shown since reforming in January 2009 - It's always a bit of a gamble when bands get back together as to whether it'll work out the second time, and whether people will still care about your music. Evidently, it IS working and people DO still care - in fact, I can't remember the last time so many people were willing to help us out, it's really overwhelming.
I'm also happy with the comments I've been reading about my production on the new EP - there were a few problems whilst recording it due to guitar amps failing, and me using a desk that I really didn't like the sound of - but having had a break from listening to it for a while I can sit back and be pleased that I have managed to capture the energy of Jairus more precisely than it's been captured on any previous recordings. Big thanks to Nick Zampiello of New Alliance East for the mastering job too.
In other news, we decided to attempt something out our last rehearsal that Jairus have NEVER attempted - which was to play a cover.
The song we have chosen to cover is Sheep, by Pink Floyd. This is the song that is solely responsible for me wanting to play guitar when I was 8 years old, and was also one of the first topics of conversation between Adam and myself when we met ten years ago. It also REALLY works well when performed in the style of our other songs. The structure is still the same as the original 'Floyd version but we have added our own touches to the song, and it's performed LOUD too! More info on that as we work on it though...
